My name is Heather Runyon. I became a counselor because I had experienced how hard life can be with broken relationships, and how much counseling can help! My desire is to help people who feel stuck get out of the mess, or prevent getting into the mess they’ve seen others suffer. I love seeing people heal and become empowered to make a positive impact on their families, friends, and communities.

I earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in both TN and GA. I have degrees from Richmont Graduate University, Lee University, and Southern Adventist University, so I am well-trained in the integration of Christianity and Psychology. When clients are open to faith-based resources, it expands our options considerably. I have also done advanced training in CBT, Family Systems Theory, and the Gottman Method of relationship therapy.

My Approach to Therapy

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and relationships. Many of my clients want to avoid or stop needing medication so I incorporate natural, holistic routines that research shows to be helpful. Lifestyle interventions put control back in your hands. I find that what’s good for the body is good for the brain, and the brain manages everything! I believe as we move toward health, we move away from all kinds of unhealth: physical, mental, emotional, and relational.
